Family Portrait Photographer in Halifax NS-Post Processing
Sometimes the best moments are truly captured in the most awful situation for lighting. At the end of Rachael’s tutu session in September, her brother decided he was going to wear Rachael’s floral headpiece and she was running around behind him. It was a moment you just can’t let slip by and if you try to stop them and re-position them in more appropriate lighting circumstances then you have totally lost the amazing moment that could have been captured!!! It’s gone. In these moments I’ll take the bad light because I’m pretty sure in post production I can bring about a better image then what I am capturing in that moment. In this case I had to shoot into direct sunlight which ofcourse casted a very icky haze across their faces and blew out the sun as I tried to expose for them being backlit. There was just no contrast in this moment and I am all about contrast, haze really isn’t my thing.
So below you will see the image my client chose-she is a friend of mine so I let her see all images as shot and even though the image is in my opinion awful lighting wise the moment captured is what grabs my clients attention and she chose this as one of her picks for her session. To me that says everything it was a moment I am glad I captured despite the lighting issues.
BEFORE POST PROCESSING-straight out of camera nothing edited.
